ROBIN MILLER SLOAN

Superior Court judge

Robin Miller Sloan—a third-generation Los Angeles judge—will depart the Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday after nearly 22 tears of judicial service.

Her father was Loren Miller Jr., a judge of the Los Angeles Municipal Court from 1975-77 and a member of the Los Angeles Superior Court bench from 1977-97, now deceased. Her grandfather, Loren Miller, was a prominent civil rights leader, practicing attorney, and co-founder of the Los Angeles Sentinel, serving on the Los Angeles Municipal Court from 1964 until his death in 1967.

Miller Sloan, 64, received her law degree in 1986 from the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law. She was a deputy Los Angeles city attorney from 1988-91, and a deputy California attorney general until her appointment to the bench.

After using earned vacation days, she will officially retire on March 28.

The judge did not respond to a request for comment.
