Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lee R. Bogdanoff’s last day on the bench was yesterday and he will officially retire today.

His judicial career is a short one. He was appointed to the Superior Court, at age 59, by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Aug. 28, 2020.

Bogdanoff earned his law degree in 1985 at the University of California, Berkeley. He became an associate, attained a partnership, and was then a senior partner at Stutman, Triester & Glatt. In 1999, he became a founding partner at Klee, Tuchin, Bogdanoff & Stern where he remained until his appointment to the bench.

Explaining the shortness of his time on the bench, Bogdanoff said yesterday:

“After just under four years on the bench I decided it was time to enjoy life more and devote more time to family and friends.”

He advised:

“I plan to travel with my wife and daughter, sleep in, read, and otherwise enjoy life. I will likely pursue professional endeavors to be determined, but I will not be working as hard.

“My fondest memories are the bonds I created with my judicial colleagues and staff. They sustained and inspired me. I also felt that I sometimes could make a positive difference in the lives of parties who appeared before me. The guardship cases were the most difficult and rewarding.

“This was a difficult job and the honor of a lifetime.”
