Pundits Predict Outcome of Judicial Races

Three political observers who carefully watch judicial elections in Los Angeles County provide the following prognostications of the results of balloting in the run-off elections. All say that Deputy District Attorneys Sharon Ransom and Tracey Blount are headed for victory in their respective contests.

Pundit I

39—George Turner. Very sad about this one.

48—TOUGH call. I think Renee Rose in a very close contest that we won’t know about for days.

97—Sharon Ransom. Not close.

135—Steven Mac. Also very close.

137—Tracey Blount. What a snooze of a race.

Overall I think there will be coattails from a blowout Nathan Hochman win [in the race for district attorney]. We saw the “Defenders of Justice” sharply moderate their messages, removing all language about “decarceration” and “abolition” and instead pretend to be sensible, middle of the road reformers. It’s a whiplash message change and I don’t believe it will fool people.

39—Steve Napolitano

48—Erika J Wiley

97—Sharon Ransom

135—Georgia Huerta

137—Tracey M. Blount
