SERENA MURILLO Superior Court judge |
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Serena Murillo has been nominated by President Joseph Biden as a judge of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
The nomination was made Wednesday. If confirmed by the Senate, she will succeed Judge Cormac J. Carney who assumed inactive senior status on May 31.
Murillo, who was appointed to her present post in 2015, was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the Superior Court in 2014, losing to then-Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Harvey Silberman, now retired from his judgeship.
She was a Los Angeles County deputy district attorney from 1997 to 2014 and prior to that, was an associate attorney at McNicholas & McNicholas in Los Angeles.
Her law degree is from Loyola.
