Among 11 appointments to superior courts across the state are four in Los Angeles County.
Appointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday were Assistant U.S. Attorney Damaris Diaz of the Central District of California, sole practitioner Janet Hong, Cindy Pánuco of Perez & Perez, and Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Tiffany Tai.
Diaz, whose law degree is from Harvard, replaces Judge Stephen A. Marcus, who retired.
Hong fills the vacancy created by the transfer of Judge Michael Kelley to the San Luis Obispo Superior Court. She graduated from the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law.
Pánuco, who held various positions at Public Counsel from 2019-23, earned her law degree at Loyola. She succeeds Judge David Rosen, who retired.
Tai, who has been a commissioner since 2022, assumes the seat that was held by Judge Howard C. Horn, now retired. Her law degree was awarded by USC.
