Chemerinsky Says He Has ‘Most Cash on Hand’
By a MetNews Staff Writer
The campaign committee of former Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeff Chemerinsky of the Central District of California issued a press release on Friday declaring that its candidate “has the most cash on hand” of all of the 12 candidates for district attorney of Los Angeles County, according to campaign finance reports.
The press release says:
“Chemerinsky’s campaign reported $364,566.61 cash on hand through February 17, substantially more than any other candidate, and $200,000 more than the incumbent.”
It adds:
“As of yesterday, only 4% of registered voters in LA County have returned their ballots, and Chemerinsky’s fundraising advantage will allow his campaign to reach more voters in the final days before Election Day.”
Chemerinsky’s press release came a day after one issued by the committee of former U.S. Assistant Attorney General Nathan Hochman announcing that Hochman has “raised more than $2 million in his record-setting campaign to defeat [incumbent] George Gascón” and “has raised far more money before the primary than any candidate for District Attorney in L.A. County history.”
The point raised by Chemerinsky is that he has the largest reserve of unspent funds while Hochman has reported having garnered the largest total amount of monetary contributions, with more than $1 million having been spent on television advertising.
