Eight Are Named to Los Angeles Superior Court

Gov. Gavin Newsom yesterday announced the appointment of eight persons to the Los Angeles Superior Court.

They are:

Kelly Boyer, who has been a supervising attorney at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office since 2019, an office she joined in 2008. Her law degree is from Southwestern.

Stephanie Dixon, a UCLA Law School graduate who has been a Los Angeles County alternate deputy public defender since 2002 and previously a deputy public defender in Los Angeles and, before that, in San Diego.

Christine Gonong, Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner since 2022, who was director of law and motion at Nguyen Lawyers ALC from 2016-22. She earned her law degree at Hastings.

Anne Kiley, a partner at Elkins Kalt Weintraub Reuben & Gartside LLP since 2016. She is an alumnus of the University of Michigan Law School.

Natalie Nardecchia, senior trial attorney at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission since 2019. University of California at Berkeley awarded her a law degree.

Scott Nord, a Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner since 2015. His juris doctor degree is from Whittier.

Melanie Ochoa, director of police practices at the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California since 2021, and on its staff since 2016. Her law degree was conferred by Harvard.

Stephanie Santoro, deputy California attorney general since 2012, with a law degree from Loyola.

All are Democrats except Boyer, who states no party preference.

Newsom made a total of 18 appointments to superior courts statewide and nominated two persons to courts of appeal. Napa Superior Court Judge Monique Langhorne Wilson will become a justice of the First District’s Div. One and Aimee Feinberg, who is of counsel at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP and was previously a deputy solicitor general will serve on the Third District, if confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments.
