LASC Judge Moloney Won’t Seek Reelection, Creating Open Seat
By a MetNews Staff Writer
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephen M. Moloney will not be running for reelection, it was learned yesterday.
“As a result, Office #118 will be an open seat,” he advised. The judge told the METNEWS he plans to retire on June 3. He was appointed to the bench by then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on July 16, 2009.
He was, at the time, a partner in the law firm of Kelly, Crowley and Jennett. Moloney joined that firm in 1975 and became a partner in 1980.

Other Superior Court judges who are known to have decided against seeking reelection are John P. Doyle, Randall F. Pacheco, and Bruce Marrs.
Judge James Kaddo, who will turn 88 on Thursday, has not responded to inquiries as to whether he intends to run. Attorney Naser J. Khoury, proceeding on the assumption that Kaddo will opt to seek reelection, said Wednesday he will challenge the incumbent.
Monday is the first day for taking out declarations of intent to run for an office, and is also the first day for filing such declarations. They must be returned by Feb. 9, except where an incumbent does not file a declaration, triggering a five-day period in which declarations may be taken out and filed by any person who meets to constitutional qualifications, other than the incumbent.
