Newsom Appoints Five to L.A. Superior Court

Gov. Gavin Newsom yesterday appointed four private practitioners and one government lawyer to vacancies on the Los Angeles Superior Court.
He chose:
•Nicholas F. Daum, 47, a partner in Kendall Brill & Kelly LLP.
•Mark A. Davis, 57, a sole practitioner.
•Dean J. Kitchens, 69, a partner in Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.
•Tiana J. Murillo, 42, an assistant Los Angeles county counsel.
•Bradley S. Phillips, 68, a partner in Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP.

All are Democrats.
Daum and Phillips earned their law degrees at Yale; Davis received his from the University of San Diego; Kitchens graduated from the law school at UCLA; and Murillo’s degree is from Columbia.
Newsom yesterday appointed 17 persons to Superior Court judgeships statewide. Their annual salaries will be $225,074.
