Candidate Cole to Challenge Ballot Title Of State Bar Court Judge Armendariz
By a MetNews Staff Writer
Judicial candidate Onica Valle Cole gave notice Friday that she will file two writ petitions today, one seeking an order to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s Office to accept her ballot designation as “Consumer Protection Prosecutor,” and the other aimed at securing a directive that the office bounce the designation of one of her rivals in a three-person race.
Cole, who was discharged Jan. 3 as a deputy Los Angeles city attorney, said she will challenge the designation of Maria Lucy Armendariz, a rival for Los Angeles Superior Court Office No. 67. The designation is “Judge of the State Bar Court, State Bar of California.”
In an email, Cole explained:
“Her actual title is Hearing Judge, San Francisco.”
The third candidate in the race is Dennis P. Vincent, whose ballot designation is “Deputy District Attorney, County of Los Angeles.”
