Family law attorney Ronald F. Brot will become president-elect of the Los Angeles County Bar Association on July 1, and assume presidency of the organization one year later, of next year, unless choices of LACBA’s Nominating Committee are derailed.
Contested elections are, however a rarity in the organization. An election did occur in 2016, for the first time in 25 years.
Brot was a leader of the reform movement, which accused the leadership of excessive secrecy and financial irresponsibility, and was elected as a trustee in 2016. He was then chair of the Family Law Section.
He has also served as chair of LACBA’s Trial Lawyer’s Section and is on the Executive Committee of the San Fernando Valley Bar Association’s Family Law Section.
Admitted to practice on Jan. 5, 1972, he is senior partner of Brot & Gross.
President-Elect Brian S. Kabateck, a consumers’ attorney, will automatically become LACBA president on July 1 of this year.
Also nominated to serve a second year as senior vice president was Tamila C. Jensen, a past president of the San Fernando Valley Bar Association. Bradley S. Pauley, a trustee and immediate past chair of LACBA’s Appellate Courts Section, was the committee’s choice for vice president.
Nominated as trustees were Richard L. Kellner, Ann I. Park, Kendra Thomas, John F. Hartigan, Amos E. Hartston, Edwin C. Summers, Gary A. Farwell, Jo-Ann W. Grace, and Eve Lopez.
