Gov. Jerry Brown Names Public Member to CJP
By a MetNews Staff Writer
Gov. Jerry Brown yesterday named Michael A. Moodian as a public member of the Commission on Judicial Performance.
Moodian, 39, has been an associate professor of social science at Brandman University since last year and an instructor at the Chapman University College of Educational Studies since 2010. He holds a doctoral degree in organizational leadership from Pepperdine University and a master’s degree in communications from California State University, Fullerton.
He has released two books, including Contemporary Leadership and Intercultural Competence (Sage, 2009), which he describes on his website as “an edited volume that examines the application of cultural comprehension to organizations and the measurement of intercultural competence.”
He has served as chairman of the World Affairs Council of Orange County. He was named Teacher of the Year at Chapman’s Irvine center in 2009 and an OC Metro 40 Under 40 honoree in 2010.
On the commission, he replaces Lawrence Simi, who was appointed by then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2005, reappointed in 2009, and has been a holdover member since his second term expired in 2013.
The position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Moodian is a Democrat.
