Pass Rate for July 2013 Bar Exam Exceeds 55 Percent

The State Bar of California’s Committee of Bar Examiners reported Friday that 55.8 percent of the applicants passed the July 2013 General Bar Examination.
Overall, 8,900 applicants took the exam while 4,962 passed. If those who passed satisfy other requirements for admission, they will become members of the State Bar.
Preliminary statistical analyses show that 74.6 percent of the applicants were first-time takers. The passing rate for first-time applicants was 68.0 percent overall. The passing rate for those applicants repeating the examination was 21.0 percent.
