Governor Taps Attorney for Tahoe Planning Agency

Gov. Jerry Brown yesterday announced his selection of San Francisco attorney E. Clement Shute to serve on the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.
Shute, 71, is a founding partner of Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger LLP where he has represented numerous environmental organizations, including the agency, since 1980.
He is a former deputy and assistant attorney general for the state of California, where he worked from 1964-80. Shute headed the Environment and Consumer Protection Section from 1975-80.
The attorney is also a member of the California advisory board for the Trust for Public Land and teaches environmental law courses at UC Berkeley, where he completed his undergraduate and legal education before admission to the State Bar in 1965.
This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary.
Shute is a Democrat.
