Best Best & Krieger LLP yesterday announced that Lee Ann Meyer, a former senior appellate attorney for this district’s Court of Appeal, has joined the firm’s environmental and natural resources practice group.

Meyer, 53, joins the Los Angeles and Irvine offices as of counsel, and will focus on litigation and appellate work, writing legal briefs, articles and motions, the firm said.

The attorney worked briefly for BB&K while working on her doctorate in American history at Claremont Graduate University in the 1990s and said she was “thrilled to be returning” to the firm.

She remarked that “[t]he people are great,” and predicted that her “wide range of writing experience will benefit many of the firm’s litigators as they prepare their cases for court.”

Before serving the Court of Appeal, Meyer clerked for Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal Judges Richard A. Paez after his elevation and while he was still a U.S. District Court judge for the Central District of California.

She also worked with California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno and Court of Appeal Justice Nora M. Manella while they served in the District Court, as well as with Judge Percy Anderson.

Meyer graduated in 1982 from UCLA School of Law, where she was a member of the UCLA Law Review.
