Memorial services for Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Deanne Smith Myers have been scheduled for Thursday..

The funeral service will take place at St. Francis Episcopal Church, located at 2200 Via Rosa in Palos Verdes Estates at 2:00, and be followed by a reception at the Palos Verdes Country Club, located at 3301 Campesina, also in Palos Verdes.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to the Ovarian Cancer Coalition at P.O. Box 40035 Studio City 91614, on behalf of “Team Deanne.”

Myers lost her battle with ovarian cancer on Wednesday night at the age of 64.

Despite being terminally ill, Myers continued to work until near the end of July.

Her colleague, Commissioner Lori R. Behar said “she was very tough…she just refused to stop.”

Even last Monday, Behar said when she saw Myers, Myers “wanted to make sure her courtroom was being taken care of, and her cases were taken care of.”

As a cancer survivor herself, Behar said Myers was “truly inspirational,” as well as a “great friend” and a “great asset to the court system.”
