Sacramento D.A. Jan Scully Appointed to Council On Criminal Justice

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed Jan Scully, the district attorney of Sacramento County, to the California Council on Criminal Justice.
Scully, 55, has served in her current post over three terms since 1995.
From 1979 to 1994, Scully was a deputy district attorney in Sacramento.
She has been a member of the California District Attorneys Association since 1980 and has been its president for the 2005-06 term. She is the first woman to be president of the organization.
Scully, who joined the California Bar in 1978, is a graduate of Sacramento State University. She later graduated from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento.
As district attorney, Scully has worked on getting the community involved in the criminal justice system, as she established Citizens Cabinet in 1995, a group of community leaders that serves as an advisory to her on matters of policy and programs.
The position does not require Senate confirmation and it does not offer compensation. Scully is a Republican.
