Davis Names Court of Appeal Counsel to Fresno Superior Court
By a MetNews Staff Writer
Gov. Gray Davis announced yesterday the appointment of Rosendo Pena Jr. to the Fresno Superior Court.
Pena will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge John M. Gallagher.
Pena, a graduate of UCLA School of Law, is currently a lead appellate court attorney at the Fifth District Court of Appeal in Fresno. He has been a staff attorney at the court since 1983, with the exception of four years.
While taking a break from the court from 1990 to 1992, Pena worked for the Attorney General specializing in the prosecution of criminal cases on appeal. The next two years he handled personal injury and workers’ compensation cases as a private practitioner in Fresno.
Pena, who now assists Justice Rebecca Wiseman at the appellate court, has also served as a judge pro tempore in the small claims court.
