Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker was named the International Real Estate Law Firm of the Year at the Chambers Global awards in London last week.

Chambers Global produces guides to the legal profession based on interviews with leading practitioners and clients around the world to find out who they think the best lawyers are and why.

The guides are used by clients when they need to find a lawyer, by law firms to refer work and by individual lawyers when assessing the merits of their competitors, or when seeking to move to a new firm.

Paul Hastings was selected for the award based on the information gathered by Chambers Global researchers. Also nominated in the real estate category were Clifford Chance; Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver and Jacboson; Linklaters; and Sullivan & Cromwell.

“Today, real estate has become a driver of global commerce, particularly as the financial markets have recognized it as an asset that can be securitized and traded on the open market,” Philip Feder, chairman of Paul Hasting’s global real estate practice, said in a statement. “We have capitalized on this by having offices domestically and internationally and by doing transactions throughout the U.S. and Canada, and in London, Tokyo, Seoul and Taiwan.”

Paul Hastings recently merged with Hong Kong law firm Koo and Partners, and sent several U.S. lawyers to China.

Mark Eagan and Nigel Heilpern, who head Paul Hasting’s real estate practice in London, and Joel Simon, the managing partner of the London office, accepted the award for the firm at the award ceremony held at the Savoy Hotel.

Paul Hasting’s real estate practice in New York was also recently honored by Chambers Global, which ranked it the top real estate practices in the city.

170 of Paul Hastings more than 840 lawyers specialize in real estate.
