Attorney J. Andrew Douglas has joined the Pasadena law firm of Richardson & Harman as an associate.

Douglas, a 13-year legal veteran, said he joined the firm in part because after years of working at large law firms, he’s ready to polish his skills in a smaller setting. As the sixth attorney at Richardson & Harman, he said he’s looking forward to using his experience to help people “on a more personal level,” with an eye to eventually starting his own practice.

In the public sector, Douglas has been a law clerk for Arizona Court of Appeals Judge Rudolph J. Gerber and a Special Projects Coordinator for Public Counsel, a Los Angeles public interest law firm. In the private sector, Douglas has worked as a Litigation Associate at the Los Angeles firms Stroock & Stroock & Lavan; Manatt, Phelps & Phillips; and Long & Levit, where he worked on a wide variety of business litigation matters.

Douglas holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and a law degree from the University of Southern California Law Center. As a published author and speaker, he occasionally returns to USC to lecture on probate and community property law.

Steven G. Harman, a senior partner at Richardson & Harman, said in a statement, “As our firm evolves and grows and we expand the scope of practice areas, his background and experience will be vital and an asset to our clients.” He cited Douglas’ diverse experience in business litigation.

The firm specializes in major litigation and in business, real estate and construction law.
