Supervisors Fast Track Measure to Require County Contractors

The county Board of Supervisors yesterday agreed to expedite adoption of an ordinance to require county contractors to pay for at least five days of jury service for their employees.
The supervisors agreed to waive reading of the item and put it on their Feb. 26 agenda.
If passed, the ordinance would apply to any company that contracts with the county and has 10 or more employees, unless the requirement is superseded by a collective bargaining agreement.
Each business would have to certify that it pays for jury service for all full-time employees who are California residents.
