By a MetNews Staff Writer
Two Los Angeles Department of Water and Power employees were named by Gov. Gray Davis to the Colorado River Board of California yesterday.
Davis tapped DWP Assistant General Manager Gerald A. Gewe as a board and Director of Water Quality James B. McDaniel to be an alternate member.
Gewe, 58, has worked at the DWP since 1974 and is a member of the American Water Works Association and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
McDaniel, 42, has served in both engineering and managerial positions at DWP since 1982. He is a member of the American Water Works Association, the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies, as well as American Society of Civil Engineers. Both men are licensed civil engineers.
Also named as a member was Blythe farmer and business man D. Bart Fisher, 52. Charles H. Van Dyke, 59, also from Blythe, was named an alternate.
The Colorado River Board was established by state statute in 1937 to protect the state’s resource rights and interests. With the new appointments, seven of the eight member spots and five of six alternate positions are filled.
The governor appoints two public members and six regional members with alternates. Board members have no set terms and serve at the governor’s will.
