The leadership of Los Angeles-based Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton has moved to San Diego with the election of Guy H. Halgren to chair the firm’s Executive Committee.
Halgren succeeds Los Angeles-based Richard Burnette and is slated to serve a three-year term.
“I appreciate the trust my partners have placed in me,” Halgren said in a statement. “Sheppard Mullin is an outstanding firm and I look forward to this leadership responsibility.”
Halgren is an employment and labor specialist whose clients include Nordstrom, Frito-Lay, the Copley press, Nabisco, Circuit City, and Lexis-Nexis. He specializes in wage/hour class actions.
He joined the firm’s San Diego office in 1986.
“Guy Halgren has outstanding leadership skills and is perfectly suited to take out firm to the next level of success,” Brunette said. “He is committed to our traditional values of client service and collegiality, while understanding that the world is changing and law firms will need strong and creative management.”
A graduate of UC Davis, Halgren earned his law degree from UCLA. He became a members of the State Bar in 1984.
Sheppard Mullin was founded in Los Angeles nearly 75 years ago, but its other offices around the state have continued to grow in prominence. Andrew Guilford, who was last year’s State Bar president, has helped bring acclaim to the firm’s Costa Mesa office.
